Vinyasa Flow is a contemporary approach to the ancient discipline of yoga. It involves intelligent, thoughtful sequencing and mindful breathing that in time can become not only a way to better understand our bodies but a way to better understand our lives. Soon the lessons we learn on the mat begin to follow us off the mat and not only do we become stronger, more in tune and connected to our bodies, we become happier, more in tune and connected to ourselves and the world around us.
Positive Psychology is a science based branch of psychology where the primary focus is on what’s already strong versus what’s going on. Different from the disease model typical of modern psychology, Positive Psychology is more concerned about building on what is already innately strong or going well for an individual in where the aim is to shift from functioning to flourishing.
I’m an ERYT500 Yoga Alliance US and lululemon Legacy Ambassador. My weekly classes cater to the more regular practitioner however all levels are more than welcomed if you enjoy a challenge. Drawing on my studies of Coaching and Coaching Psychology, my classes are infused with Positive Psychology concepts and practices specifically, how to identify and use various core character strengths. This alongside working on cultivating a Growth Mindset and the power of ‘Not yet’, will help inspire you to explore your practice in a more self-aware, sustainable and relevant manner.

Absolutely. Positively. Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training with Yeotown Founder Mercedes Sieff is a 200hr Yoga Alliance (US) registered course that takes place over a 6 month period in London. This unique programme is the first YTT of its kind to combine both Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Positive Psychology, and utilises a strengths based approach to both teaching and practising Vinyasa Flow Yoga. This includes learning how to enhance and use key character strengths such as resilience, courage, curiosity and perspective to inspire both the student’s practice and the teacher’s teachings. Working hard to identify the teacher’s own inherent strengths and unique teaching voice , there will be a strong focus on intelligent and creative sequencing that takes into account the students and their needs and not a teacher’s pre-planned class or agenda.
This 6 month 200hr training will cover aspects such as key postures, alignment, sequencing, simple mantras, anatomy, props and a plethora of effective enhancements and adjustments. There will be discussions and discourse around the roots of yoga, taking into account the hotly debated more recent discoveries and theories around yoga and its history put forth by respected scholars and historians alike. You will learn about the many life enhancing facets of the science of Positive Psychology including easy to apply yet effective tools and exercises. This course will also provide space for coaching one another using various positive psychology approaches and how to use them with your students. It will explore the seminal work of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi including his findings around “Flow” (a highly focused mental state) and its connection to authentic happiness and a life of flourishing. Topics also explored will be the Growth Mindset and the work of Carol Dweck, alongside the concept of Curiosity as a key character strength beneficial in helping to create a life of meaning and purpose.
